Princess Hannadell, better known as Hanna, is the daughter of Prince Brigan.
Appearance[]
Hanna has long, black hair and dark-colored eyes. She is five years old.
Personality[]
Hanna is a confident and self-possessed child. She is a tomboy and adores her father. She is protective of him and defends him to others. She is unenthusiastic about school. She loves her riding lessons but hates her history lessons. Her mind is impressively closed to Fire. Hanna is a precocious child. In any lesson that interested her, she ceases her chatter and shows a surprising capacity to focus, a trait inherited from her father.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Hanna's mother was a stable girl named Rose. Rose and Brigan were sixteen and in love. Cansral convinced King Nax to send Brigan to the borders as part of the army in the hopes of getting rid of his only open enemy. Brigan survived, and returned home, now seventeen, to learn that Rose had died giving birth to their child, Hanna, who was now four months old. In order to keep her safe, Brigan kept her existence quiet. After Nax and then Cansrel's deaths, it was finally safe enough for Brigan to name Hanna his heir. She is now the second heir to the throne, unless King Nash has children. Brigan has only done so among the family, but it's not official secret. Hanna will be Brigan's first heir even if she should marry and have sons.
Fire[]
Hanna is now five years old, and she will be six in winter. Fire comes across her engaged in a fist fight with other palace children. Fire stops the fight and calls for a healer for Hanna. Hanna immediately starts talking to Fire as if she has known her forever. She knows she will be in trouble when Brigan returns because he has taught her not to the throw the first punch. Her father has taught her how to throw a punch and how to defend herself.
Hanna and Fire spend a lot of time together. Hanna repeatedly tries to get Fire to tell the story of how she got the scars from when she'd saved Brigan and his soldiers. Fire gets permission from Brigan to explain why once a month the monsters are particularly obsessed with Fire. Hanna continues her lessons. She loves her lessons in riding, swordplay, archery, and fighting. Hanna adores Archer when he comes to visit, and Archer spends time training her in archery. Hanna comes to Fire in her rooms after the palace children taunt her that Brigan is always leaving because he wants to get away from her and that this time he's not coming back. Fire comforts her until she falls asleep.
Bitterblue[]
Po informs Queen Bitterblue that Hanna now commands the Dellian Army, presumably taking over for her father.

Fire[]
Fire has a great deal of love towards Hanna, especially after the princess started a fight because some kids badmouthed Fire. Hanna also sees Fire as an older sister/mother figure who she can relate and talk to. Fire also explained to her the female anatomy believing she was much smarter than her age and listened to Hanna talk about horses with much patience. Near the end of the book, Fire and Hanna spend much time together and consider each other family. Though Fire claims that Hanna feels some jealousy towards her for being with Brigan so much, she still tries to protect Fire in her own way by hitting Fire on the face to swat away a monster bug.
